Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Training

Located in the middle of America’s wind corridor, High Plains Technology Center (HPTC) in Woodward Oklahoma, is  at the heart of wind development technology in the United States.  HPTC’s hands on, dynamic climb and rescue training initiatives provide comprehensive training to the wind industry.  As the first technology center in Oklahoma to offer a course of study for Wind Tech I students, HPTC is now the first and only GWO certified provider in Oklahoma for existing wind industry training.  Our GWO certification assures our clients that our training can consistently deliver training to the relevant GWO Standards. 

We deliver a complete range of height safety, access and rescue training for the wind industry, but our courses can also be made applicable for utilities, construction and manufacturing industries, emergency services and the oil & gas industry.

About Our Facility And Our Training

Our training facility has been constructed specifically to deliver wind industry training and includes a working 45M 100KW Direct Drive Turbine onsite, a 2.3 Megawatt Nacelle as well as an inside 35 ft. multi - purpose climbing tower, allowing HPTC to train climb & rescue year round. With industry professionals to guide you in your learning experience.

She shares her experience of her training from High Plains Tech Center and from Vestas, through the Vestas Technician Readiness Program, and how she has transitioned from construction and administration into the wind power industry and working at heights.     High Plains Technology Center led the Americas with 4,268 GWO training modules during 2020. The GWO Annual report was recently published and clearly shows the continued increase of growth in the Wind Industry which leads to increased need for training. HPTC, keeping in line with our mission, has met the needs of the current industry by providing the training at the rate of growth that is taking place.   • High Plains Technology Center Concludes Busiest Year Ever for Wind Turbine Training!

    "High Plains Technology Center, a vocational school that is the first technology center in Oklahoma focused on wind turbine training, concluded its busiest year ever for the number of technicians trained in standardized safety and emergency procedures by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO).

    Meeting demand for qualified technicians is one thing, and there’s much more.
